Mr. Chu is a co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Phoenix Property Investors. He is responsible for overall investment strategies and the management of the Firm. He has been investing in real estate since 1989 and has a track record of over US$ 15 billion of invested assets. Prior to founding Phoenix in 2002, Mr. Chu worked in major international banks and financial institutions including Bankers Trust and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell with postings in Hong Kong, New York, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. He also has experience providing advisory services to a range of clients, including listed companies. 
Mr. Chu holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He graduated cum laude with Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Art in Finance and International Management from Georgetown University. He is a member of the Global Leaders Group of Chicago Booth and serves on the Board of Overseers of Squash Education Alliance.
BENJAMIN K.Y. LEE

Mr. Lee is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Phoenix Property Investors. Phoenix has managed over US$15 billion of real estate assets in its last 21 years for important institutions. He serves on the firm’s Investment Committee and is also responsible for structuring, capital formation, and the general management of the firm.
Previously, Mr. Lee was a co-founder of Strategic Capital Management (SCM), a PRC-focused private equity investment firm. Prior to SCM, Mr. Lee served at Morgan Stanley for 10 years in both its debt and equity businesses in New York and Hong Kong. In addition, Mr. Lee also served as a member of the Management Committee at Terramar Corretora in Brazil, where he was responsible for the management of the brokerage firm’s equity and asset management businesses.
Mr. Lee received an MBA in Finance from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and served on its Global Leaders Group. He also serves as a voting member of the St. Paul’s College Foundation in Hong Kong, as well as a member of the PERE Advisory Board.
DAISUKE HAYASHI
Partner & Japan Chief Representative
Mr. Hayashi heads Phoenix’s Japan office and oversees Phoenix’s investments in Japan. He has over 33 years of experience in real estate private equity and investment banking, having compiled a successful track record during that time. Mr. Hayashi joined Phoenix from Aetos, where he served for 10 years as the Managing Director and Head of the Acquisitions Group. During this time he was responsible for acquiring JPY 1 trillion worth of assets.
Before Aetos, Mr. Hayashi spent two years with Morgan Stanley managing relationships for the firm’s Investment Banking clients in Japan. He began his career with Industrial Bank of Japan (also known as IBJ, now Mizuho Bank), where he spent 10 years. There Mr. Hayashi initially worked in commercial banking, including products such as corporate loans, foreign exchange, deposits and bank debentures. He spent seven years in IBJ’s Luxembourg office.
Mr. Hayashi received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Keio University. He is a chartered member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan and a licensed Japanese real estate agent.
TRENT WINDUSS
Partner, Head of Australia
Mr. Winduss has worked in the structured real estate finance market in Australia for over 21 years. Since 2009, Mr. Winduss has originated and closed 36 debt and equity transactions in Australia with US$761MM of total capital invested or lent, of which 25 transactions have been successfully exited 11 are unrealized. Prior to joining Phoenix, he was with Qualitas Property Partners (“Qualitas”), where he was a Director of the Real Estate Finance Team. At Qualitas, he originated and executed senior debt, stretch senior debt, mezzanine debt, distressed debt, preferred equity, and equity transactions. Before Qualitas, he was a Director at Investec Bank within the Structured Real Estate Finance team.
Mr. Winduss also worked at NM Rothschild and Sons, focusing on real estate and infrastructure debt and advisory transactions. Mr. Winduss holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Finance (Honors) from Edith Cowan University and a Master of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Western Australia.
ELLEN LEE CHON
Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Lee is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Phoenix Property Investors. She has over 20 years of experience in Private Equity, Principal Investing and M&A across industries including real estate, logistics, aircraft leasing, shipping, Energy and Natural Resources and Financial Institutions. Ms. Lee joined Phoenix from Warwick Investment Group where she was responsible for New Businesses with a focus on real estate.
Ms. Lee began her career with Morgan Stanley’s Mergers, Acquisitions, Restructuring and Divestitures Group. Ms. Lee has also worked in Fortress Investment Group’s private equity team and Goldman Sachs’ Global Commodities Principal Investment Group in New York. From 2009-2015, Ms. Lee joined Noble Group, a Global Commodity trading and investing company, and managed a global team of professionals based in New York, Sao Paolo, Singapore and Hong Kong. At Noble, Ms. Lee held positions including Global Head of M&A, Head of Principal Investing for the Americas and Managing Director of Financial Services. Ms. Lee also served as the APAC’s co-Head of Energy Natural Resources for Natixis’ Corporate and Investment Bank Group based in Hong Kong.
Ms. Lee graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors from Harvard University with a degree in East Asian Studies.
JULIE CHANG
Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations
Ms. Chang is a Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations of Phoenix Property Investors. Ms. Chang has over 22 years of work experience in investor relations, legal and investment banking. Prior to joining Phoenix, Ms. Chang was a Managing Director at Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM) where she was the head of the Asia ex-Japan Institutional Client Solutions group.
Prior to Blackstone, she was the Chief Operating Officer in Asia for Balyasny Asset Management. Earlier in her career, she also worked at PAG, Azentus Capital, D.E. Shaw & Co, Goldman Sachs, and Davis Polk & Wardwell.
Ms. Chang has a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
JOEY CHIANG
Managing Director, Greater China Investments
Mr. Chiang is Managing Director and Head of Phoenix's Greater China Investment Team. He is a Chartered Surveyor (General Practice) with over 31 years of experience in the real estate sector. During the first seven years of his career, he served in senior positions at a number of private sector surveyors and property development firms, accumulating significant experience in development feasibility studies, land premium negotiations, sales and letting of properties, as well as the acquisition and disposal of land and buildings. For the following seven years, he served as an Estate Surveyor for the Hong Kong Housing Authority, taking care of its land and buildings by supervising the land management and administration of various development schemes from inception to post-completion.
Mr. Chiang received an AMDP in Real Estate from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and a BS degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of Hong Kong. He has also attained the APMP qualification from the Association for Project Management. Mr. Chiang is also a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
ST HWANG
Managing Director, Head of South Korea
Mr. Hwang is a Managing Director and Head of South Korea at Phoenix based in Seoul. Mr. Hwang has over 20 years of experience in investment, asset management, and capital formation in South Korea. Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Hwang was the Managing Director at LaSalle Investment Management, where he led the origination and execution for LaSalle’s real estate funds. Before LaSalle, Mr. Hwang served as the Director of Acquisitions at Invesco Real Estate where he was involved with the origination and execution for Invesco’s real estate funds. During Mr. Hwang’s time at Invesco, he also played an integral role in the fundraising process and has worked extensively with Korean investors to advise on off-shore client portfolios. Earlier, Mr. Hwang has worked on various investment projects involving hard assets, developments, and distressed deals including NPL auctions throughout his tenures at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund, GE Capital, and Gale International. Mr. Hwang holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul.
MILAN KHATRI
Managing Director, Head of Research
Mr. Khatri has over 28 years of experience in real estate research, forecasting, and investment strategy. His experience spans across commercial and residential markets. Mr. Khatri previously worked at Aberdeen Standard Investments in Singapore supporting APAC teams in identifying real estate opportunities across the risk spectrum of core, value-add and development strategies. Previously, he was Aberdeen’s global real estate strategist in London, responsible for assessing market valuation and forecasting market trend, as well as advising investors on portfolio allocation strategies. He started his real estate career as chief economist for the Royal Institutional of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) where he spent 10 years.
Mr. Khatri holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from SOAS (University of London).
IICHIRO SAKATA
Managing Director, Japan Investments
Mr. Sakata joined Phoenix in November 2019 and is Managing Director, Japan Investments, in the Tokyo office. Prior to joining Phoenix, he worked at Morgan Stanley Capital as an Executive Director covering acquisitions in Japan across the risk spectrum. Over his 20-year career at Morgan Stanley, he has ample experience sourcing and executing various strategies across numerous sectors. He has transacted on over US$ 10 billion in real estate acquisitions and has covered various asset classes. Additionally, he not only has led traditional real estate acquisitions but, also, was responsible for more complex transactions which included distressed investments and non-performing loan workouts, corporate M&A, and publicly listed real estate securities.  
Mr. Sakata holds a Bachelor Degree of Commerce from the Doshisha University and a Bachelor Degree of Finance from the University of Alabama.
KJ KIM
Executive Director, Japan Investments
Mr. Kim is an Executive Director of Phoenix’s Japan Investment Team and has been with the firm since 2019. Prior to joining Phoenix, he was with Partners Group, based in Singapore, where he focused on real estate acquisitions across Asia and served on the global real estate private equity fund of over USD 10 billion in assets under management. Prior to that, he was with Aetos’ acquisitions team focusing on opportunistic investments in Japan. Mr. Kim started his career in the investment banking division at J.P. Morgan in New York.

Executive Director, Head of Hong Kong Investments
Mr. Ma is a Director of the Phoenix’s Greater China Investment Team and has joined the firm since 2011. Prior to joining Phoenix, Wilfred worked as an Associate at Vermilion Capital Management, a private equity real estate fund based in Tokyo, where he was responsible for underwriting and execution of opportunities in Japan.
Mr. Ma holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the London School of Economics, and received a Master’s degree in Real Estate at the University of Hong Kong.  He also studied at Keio University in Japan. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the HK Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group.
TOSHIMASA MATSUOKA

Mr. Matsuoka joined our Japan office in 2014 as Vice President, Investments. Mr. Matsuoka joined Phoenix from Clean Energy Management Co., where he was the Project Manager responsible for a mega solar development project. Before that, he was a Vice President of the Acquisition & Due Diligence Department at First Brothers Asset Management Co., Ltd. and a Vice President of the Structuring and Pricing Acquisitions Group of Aetos Japan, LLC. He also has experiences in Shinsei Bank, Asset Service Inc., Paraca Inc. and Shimizu Corporation. Mr. Matsuoka received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Structural Mechanics) from Hiroshima University, Japan.
TOSHIO SUDO
Executive Director, Japan Investments
Mr. Sudo joined Phoenix in 2017 as Assistant Vice President, Investments. Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Sudo spent 6 years with Samurai Capital, a boutique real estate fund management company. At Samurai, he was involved in investment and asset management through an opportunistic fund platform and other investment platforms held by various global investors. Prior to that, he worked for Morgan Stanley from 2004 to 2011, where he was engaged in the real estate investment business. He served in broad asset acquisitions and management capacities for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund and other funds; as well as setting-up new funds, fund structuring, reporting and other IR affairs. In addition, he advised real estate companies such as J-REIT IPOs and fund structuring. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he managed the structured finance business at Aozora Bank and UBS Securities in Tokyo. Mr. Sudo acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Educational Science from the University of Tokyo.
STEVE TOKIC
Executive Director, Australia Investments
Mr. Tokic is an Executive Director of Phoenix’s Investment Team based in Sydney and joined the team in 2021. He has over 21 years’ experience in providing property finance solutions to investors and developers and has worked in both bank and non-bank environments.
Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Tokic was a Director at ANZ Bank in their Institutional Property Group, where he spent 11 years and led a team who focused on providing investment and development funding to private property groups, which included lending to all sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, land subdivisions and hotels. Under his leadership, he was responsible for a loan book at around US$5 billion. He forms strong relationships with all stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
Mr. Tokic holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Finance from Macquarie University.
HENRY CHEUNG
Regional Director, Asset Management
Mr. Cheung is a Regional Director of Asset Management, responsible for our Retail and Commercial portfolio in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Cheung was the Director of Asset Management with Nan Fung Group for over two years, responsible for the Group’s retail and commercial asset portfolio in Mainland China. Prior to that, Mr. Cheung worked at Hang Lung Group for 30 years. He was the Assistant Director of Leasing and Management, overall in charge of the Group’s entire Hong Kong investment portfolio, consisting of diversified property asset of over 7 million square feet as well as two major commercial assets in Shanghai and Shenyang of Mainland China.
Mr. Cheung has an impressive list of accomplished projects over his 40 years of industry experience. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Victoria, Canada and an MBA degree from Southern Illinois University, USA.
JOHNSON LIU
Director, Project Management
Mr. Liu is a Director of Project Management, focusing on projects outside Hong Kong. He joined Phoenix from Kerry Properties where he was Director of Planning for China projects. Prior to Kerry Properties, Mr. Liu was the Project Director at Swire Properties for 16 years and managed projects such as the Upper House Hotel, Festival Walk shopping mall in Hong Kong, the Village shopping centre and the Opposite House Hotel in Sanlitun, Beijing. He spent an additional nine years working as an Architect in Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd and Mass Transit Railway, where he worked on the Pacific Place Mall, Admiralty and Times Square Shopping Mall, Causeway Bay and Airport Express MTR line.
Mr. Liu holds a Bachelor degree in Architecture (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USA), awarded AIA Certificate of Merit. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate from the University of Greenwich (UK) and completed an Advanced Management Program at INSEAD (France). Mr. Liu is a Registered Architect and Authorized Person under the Hong Kong Buildings Ordinance. He has been a member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects since 1987.

Mr. Reilly is a member of Phoenix’s International Advisory Council with over 50 years of extensive experience in asset and portfolio management, acquisitions, dispositions, debt financing and operations across all types of institutional property assets.
Prior to joining the Council, in 2015 Mr. Reilly had retired as CEO of Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, USA, one of the world’s largest real estate investment managers. Mr. Reilly joined the Cornerstone in 1995 to help establish and lead the real estate arm of the firm’s parent, a top 5 mutual life insurance company in the US. During Mr. Reilly’s 20 years at the company, he played an integral role in defining and driving its vision for investing and client service. In 2006, Mr. Reilly transitioned from the role of President to CEO and initiated the company's global expansion. He was instrumental in expanding Cornerstone's client base and directing its growth from US$9B AUM in 2006 to US$47B in 2014 with over 300 employees across its global platform (Asia, Europe and USA). Post retirement, Mr. Reilly served as an Industry Scholar in the School of Business at the University of Connecticut where he created and taught an advanced course in real estate investing.

He has transacted on over US$ 10 billion in real estate acquisitions and has covered various asset classes. Additionally, he not only has led traditional real estate acquisitions but, also, was responsible for more complex transactions which included distressed investments and non-performing loan workouts, corporate M&A, and publicly listed real estate securities.
Mr. Sakata holds a Bachelor Degree of Commerce from the Doshisha University and a Bachelor Degree of Finance from the University of Alabama.
KJ KIM
Executive Director, Japan Investments
Mr. Kim is an Executive Director of Phoenix’s Japan Investment Team and has been with the firm since 2019. Prior to joining Phoenix, he was with Partners Group, based in Singapore, where he focused on real estate acquisitions across Asia and served on the global real estate private equity fund of over USD 10 billion in assets under management. Prior to that, he was with Aetos’ acquisitions team focusing on opportunistic investments in Japan. Mr. Kim started his career in the investment banking division at J.P. Morgan in New York.
Mr. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Minor in Psychology from Stanford University.
WILFRED MA
Executive Director, Head of Hong Kong Investments
Mr. Ma is a Director of the Phoenix’s Greater China Investment Team and has joined the firm since 2011. Prior to joining Phoenix, Wilfred worked as an Associate at Vermilion Capital Management, a private equity real estate fund based in Tokyo, where he was responsible for underwriting and execution of opportunities in Japan.
Mr. Ma holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the London School of Economics, and received a Master’s degree in Real Estate at the University of Hong Kong.  He also studied at Keio University in Japan. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the HK Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group.
TOSHIMASA MATSUOKA
Executive Director, Japan Investments
Mr. Matsuoka joined our Japan office in 2014 as Vice President, Investments. Mr. Matsuoka joined Phoenix from Clean Energy Management Co., where he was the Project Manager responsible for a mega solar development project. Before that, he was a Vice President of the Acquisition & Due Diligence Department at First Brothers Asset Management Co., Ltd. and a Vice President of the Structuring and Pricing Acquisitions Group of Aetos Japan, LLC. He also has experiences in Shinsei Bank, Asset Service Inc., Paraca Inc. and Shimizu Corporation. Mr. Matsuoka received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Structural Mechanics) from Hiroshima University, Japan.
TOSHIO SUDO
Executive Director, Japan Investments
Mr. Sudo joined Phoenix in 2017 as Assistant Vice President, Investments. Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Sudo spent 6 years with Samurai Capital, a boutique real estate fund management company. At Samurai, he was involved in investment and asset management through an opportunistic fund platform and other investment platforms held by various global investors. Prior to that, he worked for Morgan Stanley from 2004 to 2011, where he was engaged in the real estate investment business. He served in broad asset acquisitions and management capacities for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund and other funds; as well as setting-up new funds, fund structuring, reporting and other IR affairs. In addition, he advised real estate companies such as J-REIT IPOs and fund structuring. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he managed the structured finance business at Aozora Bank and UBS Securities in Tokyo. Mr. Sudo acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Educational Science from the University of Tokyo.
STEVE TOKIC
Executive Director, Australia Investments
Mr. Tokic is an Executive Director of Phoenix’s Investment Team based in Sydney and joined the team in 2021. He has over 21 years’ experience in providing property finance solutions to investors and developers and has worked in both bank and non-bank environments.
Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Tokic was a Director at ANZ Bank in their Institutional Property Group, where he spent 11 years and led a team who focused on providing investment and development funding to private property groups, which included lending to all sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, land subdivisions and hotels. Under his leadership, he was responsible for a loan book at around US$5 billion. He forms strong relationships with all stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
Mr. Tokic holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Finance from Macquarie University.
HENRY CHEUNG
Regional Director, Asset Management
Mr. Cheung is a Regional Director of Asset Management, responsible for our Retail and Commercial portfolio in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Cheung was the Director of Asset Management with Nan Fung Group for over two years, responsible for the Group’s retail and commercial asset portfolio in Mainland China. Prior to that, Mr. Cheung worked at Hang Lung Group for 30 years. He was the Assistant Director of Leasing and Management, overall in charge of the Group’s entire Hong Kong investment portfolio, consisting of diversified property asset of over 7 million square feet as well as two major commercial assets in Shanghai and Shenyang of Mainland China.
Mr. Cheung has an impressive list of accomplished projects over his 40 years of industry experience. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Victoria, Canada and an MBA degree from Southern Illinois University, USA.
JOHNSON LIU
Director, Project Management
Mr. Liu is a Director of Project Management, focusing on projects outside Hong Kong. He joined Phoenix from Kerry Properties where he was Director of Planning for China projects. Prior to Kerry Properties, Mr. Liu was the Project Director at Swire Properties for 16 years and managed projects such as the Upper House Hotel, Festival Walk shopping mall in Hong Kong, the Village shopping centre and the Opposite House Hotel in Sanlitun, Beijing. He spent an additional nine years working as an Architect in Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd and Mass Transit Railway, where he worked on the Pacific Place Mall, Admiralty and Times Square Shopping Mall, Causeway Bay and Airport Express MTR line.
Mr. Liu holds a Bachelor degree in Architecture (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USA), awarded AIA Certificate of Merit. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate from the University of Greenwich (UK) and completed an Advanced Management Program at INSEAD (France). Mr. Liu is a Registered Architect and Authorized Person under the Hong Kong Buildings Ordinance. He has been a member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects since 1987.
DAVID J. REILLY
Global Senior Advisor
Mr. Reilly is a member of Phoenix’s International Advisory Council with over 50 years of extensive experience in asset and portfolio management, acquisitions, dispositions, debt financing and operations across all types of institutional property assets.
Prior to joining the Council, in 2015 Mr. Reilly had retired as CEO of Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, USA, one of the world’s largest real estate investment managers. Mr. Reilly joined the Cornerstone in 1995 to help establish and lead the real estate arm of the firm’s parent, a top 5 mutual life insurance company in the US. During Mr. Reilly’s 20 years at the company, he played an integral role in defining and driving its vision for investing and client service. In 2006, Mr. Reilly transitioned from the role of President to CEO and initiated the company's global expansion. He was instrumental in expanding Cornerstone's client base and directing its growth from US$9B AUM in 2006 to US$47B in 2014 with over 300 employees across its global platform (Asia, Europe and USA). Post retirement, Mr. Reilly served as an Industry Scholar in the School of Business at the University of Connecticut where he created and taught an advanced course in real estate investing.
Mr. Reilly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Commerce from Boston College.
